Best Candidates
Cosmetic veneers can be applied to quickly disguise chips and stains on your enamel, improve misaligned or worn down teeth, and adjust teeth that are unevenly shaped or spaced. At Miller & Miller Dentistry, your cosmetic veneers will be custom made to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive and natural look. In your consultation, Dr. Chris Miller or Dr. Matt Miller will listen to your cosmetic dental goals and expectations so your treatment will be your own. The Miller & Miller team will also determine if you are a good candidate for cosmetic veneers by analyzing your overall oral health. You should not have signs of gum problems, or habitually clench your jaw and grind your teeth (also known as bruxism).
What To Expect
Once you have formed your individual treatment plan with Dr. Chris or Dr. Matt, the veneer process can begin. Our dental team will take dental impressions. Your impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneers will be crafted out of high-quality porcelain material. When your custom veneers are ready, Dr. Chris or Dr. Matt will prepare your teeth. This creates space for the veneers and improves the bond for a more natural result that lasts a long time. Once your veneers are bonded, Dr. Chris or Dr. Matt will make minor adjustments so your veneers fit well.
Follow-Up
You may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold food for a few days, but this should subside naturally. Your veneers should be cleaned like your natural teeth with frequent brushing and flossing. While porcelain veneers are more resistant to stains compared to your natural enamel, you should still avoid staining food and drinks to keep your smile bright. To avoid chipping your veneers, you should not chew on hard objects, such as ice or your fingernails. Continue to go to dental exams and cleanings at Miller & Miller Dentistry so we can monitor the condition of your cosmetic veneers.
