Best Candidates
ClearCorrect aligners are a good choice if your teeth are crowded, crooked, misaligned, or if you have a dental malocclusion (bad bite). If you have a slight overbite, gaps between your teeth, rotated teeth, or excessive gapping, ClearCorrect can be especially effective.
There are many treatments to improve the alignment, spacing, and bite, but ClearCorrect aligners have additional advantages. The clear aligners make it difficult for others to tell you are wearing orthodontic appliances as they would with traditional braces. The aligners are also removable so they can be taken out when you eat, clean your teeth, and for special occasions. In contrast to Invisalign (a similar system of removable aligners), ClearCorrect aligners are made in the United States and are normally less expensive. When you come to our office for a consultation, Dr. Chris or Dr. Matt can explain all your orthodontic options and answer all your questions to decide if aligners are the ideal method for you.
What to Expect
When you select ClearCorrect aligners, Dr. Chris or Dr. Matt will take scans of your teeth and jaw or impressions that will be used to make your custom aligners. Once your aligners are made and ready for pick-up, a team member will contact you to schedule a fitting. You can expect to make appointments at our office once a month. During this time, your dentist will check on your progress and issue replacement aligners as your teeth and bite move. If you lose or damage one of your aligners, just give us a call and we can have replacement aligners made so it is possible to continue treatment without waiting until your next appointment. Depending on the position of your teeth and the amount of correction needed, your prescribed orthodontic care could last 12 – 24 months (about eight phases of treatment).
Follow-Up
Dr. Chris and Dr. Matt will require regular visits to check your progress and make adjustments as needed as your teeth become straighter. It is also very important to keep your teeth and the aligners clean so you do not cause your teeth to decay. Brushing your teeth, flossing, and using mouthwash after you take out the aligners is a good habit to make in general. You should also rinse or clean the aligners before putting them back in your mouth. It's also advisable to store your aligners in their protective case during meal times so you don't lose them.
Once your ClearCorrect aligner treatment has finished, you may have to wear a retainer at night to keep your teeth from moving back to their original position. To maintain your results, you must continue to schedule annual dental exams at Miller & Miller Dentistry so our team can monitor your bite, teeth alignment, and overall oral health.
